The All America Auto Transport Vehicle Shipment Security System
We take great care of your customers' cars. Every load is protected by multi-layer verification aimed at the real failure modes: carrier identity theft, fraudulent driver changes, weak handoffs, and insurance gaps—backed by FMCSA/SAFER checks, driver and truck identity, and strict release protocols at pickup and delivery.
Quick answer
VS3 is AAAT's operational checklist to reduce fraud, insurance gaps, and wrong-driver pickups. Before your vehicle moves, we confirm the carrier's operating status on SAFER/FMCSA, verify cargo insurance, validate driver and truck identifiers (including DOT/MC visibility), and apply extra scrutiny for first-time or high-value moves—then enforce customer release rules at pickup. Official broker vs carrier definitions live on the FMCSA site.

How VS3 stops the fraud patterns that steal cars in transit
Most auto-transport losses that make headlines are not random highway theft. They start with a fake identity, a last-minute driver swap, or a rushed handoff where nobody checks the truck against dispatch. VS3 is the operational answer: verify the company, lock the driver and equipment to the load, control the release, then treat insurance as the backstop—not the plan.
Carrier identity theft
Fraud rings spoof legitimate motor carriers: stolen MC/DOT numbers on paperwork, lookalike company names, recycled insurance certificates, and phones that never match FMCSA SAFER. If a broker only checks a screenshot, the wrong operator can show up at your lot. VS3 requires ACTIVE authority on SAFER, recent-change scrutiny, phone/company consistency across systems, and deeper gates before a first-time carrier hauls for us—especially on high-value inventory.
Fraudulent driver changes
A common attack after a load is booked: someone calls the shipper claiming “the original driver broke down—send the car with me instead.” Or a different person arrives with incomplete ID while the assigned driver is still hours away. VS3 treats mid-stream driver or truck swaps as a stop-the-line event. Driver license photos, truck photos with DOT/MC visible, and dispatch records must match the person and equipment on site. If anything changes after booking, call AAAT before release—do not improvise with whoever shows up.
Carrier verification (before the truck rolls)
Verification is layered, not a single checkbox. Every load: ACTIVE SAFER status, current cargo insurance, driver ID on file, truck photo with DOT/MC. First-time carriers: Super Dispatch history, ACH and business-check match, authority age, phone match, and references on vehicles over $100,000. Carriers idle for 6+ months get re-verified before reuse. That is the same protocol summarized at aaat.com/vs3—broker process you can audit, not a marketing slogan.
Safe handoff controls at pickup
The highest-risk minute is release. VS3 customer/dealer release rules require: no tow trucks; company name matches dispatch; DOT/MC on the truck; license photo matches the driver present; BOL company name and delivery address correct. Dynamic pickup verification (QR / aaat.com/verify) lets the person releasing the car confirm they are handing keys to the vetted driver—not a stranger with a clipboard. If any item fails, do not release; call us. For shippers who will not be present, see authorizing a smooth pickup when you cannot be there.
Insurance as a backstop—not the first line of defense
Carrier cargo insurance covers many in-transit damage scenarios, but identity fraud and wrong-party release are prevention problems first. VS3 exists so insurance is rarely needed for theft-style losses. When you want an extra layer for loss or theft above carrier limits, we can quote optional additional coverage (terms vary by vehicle and route; educational only—contract and policy language control). Pair that with documentation habits in our car shipping liability cheatsheet and what to do if damage occurs.

Customer Checklist — Vehicle Release at Pickup
At pickup we ensure the vehicle is released only to the correct, authorized transporter. All of the following must match:
- No tow trucks — vehicles are not released to tow trucks
- Trucking company name matches dispatch
- DOT or MC number clearly displayed on the truck
- Photo of driver's license matches the driver on site
- Bill of Lading (BOL) matches trucking company name
- Correct delivery address listed on BOL
If ANY item does NOT match — DO NOT RELEASE VEHICLE. Call us immediately.
Additional insurance (backstop)
Carrier cargo policies are the primary transit coverage. Optional additional insurance can help close gaps for theft or loss above the carrier's limits—ask us for a route- and vehicle-specific quote at cost. It does not replace VS3 verification or release discipline; it sits behind them. Details are always subject to policy terms and your auto transport contract terms.
